I've Been Here Before

by Maynard and the Musties

This was written a few years ago, for different circumstances, but it certainly does fit the "Groundhog-Day" life in this here pandemic. It will be on our forthcoming album "Grown-up Things" whenever I have the cash to put it out...

I've Been Here Before

I’m on my own, without you here
No one to care, no one near
blazing a trail, no need to fear,
I’ve been here before

the horizon looks big, and bigger from here
the path seems harder, with my advancing years
but there’s no time to fret, you’ve opened the door
& I’ve been here before

Yes, I’ve been here before, so many times
It’s getting so comfy, heartache seems like a lie
I wake up alone, nobody home,
just stirring my coffee & staring at my phone

It’s been a while, your face, it recedes
all my life’s memories into each other bleed
my coffee is weak, my heart’s incomplete
but I’ve been here before

solo, then repeat Chorus & 3rd verse.
